About

Cerro TronadorHi, my name is Pablo Matamoros. CodeSpanish is my part-time project born to open my horizons.

I started this blog after realizing that I’d worked on lots of cool projects in the past but had no record of it. That’s what usually happens when you work in a corporate environment as I did in the late 90’s and early 00’s. Then, when you try to apply for a fulltime position, it is hard to prove your knowledge. Very seldom you get the chance to go through a technical exam in an interview, and if you do, many employers expect you to solve the exercises by heart. I don’t work like that. I’m a Jack-of-all-trades that uses books and lot of research to solve problems. I’m creative and human.

So, I decided to start freelancing on the side of my day job as lecturer at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic to keep my brain alive and earn some extra cash. I created this blog not only to promote my freelance activities, but also to share mine and my colleagues work with the world.

You will read in this site many times the word “We” instead of “I”. Well, the truth is that CodeSpanish is more than a personal blog. It is a company that I founded to collaborate with an extended network of Hispanic professionals with whom I worked or studied for many years. Latin America is not often considered an IT destination. My ultimate goal is to prove people wrong

I would appreciate your feedback of this site. Things like, its design, content, topics you would like to see covered, etc. We would also love to have your contribution; in exchange we will give you a free English to Spanish translation of your text!
